Groovekid came together in 2013 with hopes of making creative music that would stir thought and feeling in their audience. Jon Meade (guitar/vocals) and Josh Carlisle (drums) started playing music together between school and work, and soon they found themselves rehearsing songs and building a strong set of music from the songwriting Jon Meade had been building on for years. Their first show was in June of 2013 where they were a co-headliner at the "2013 Family Fun Festival" in Ranger, GA. In late July, Max Miller was welcomed to the band as the new bass player. Since then, this 3 piece has taken the local Chattanooga music scene by storm and have played many of the renowned local venues including the Moccasin Bend Brewing Company, The Honest Pint, JJ's Bohemia, and Rhythm & Brews. They've played other notable venues around the Southeast including the Terrapin Brewery in Athens, GA and the outdoor amphitheater in Ranger, GA. They leave listeners thrilled with their new creative sound that echoes sounds from the past with a refreshing twist of blues rock with funky undertones not seen before in music. Fans have said "Groovekid's bringing back music!" and they most certainly are with influences from Jimi Hendrix to The Black Keys to Dave Matthews. With a live energy that entices attention, you will NOT want to miss their next show!
